CHITA, August 20. /TASS/. Yevgeny Tomashevsky, 28, won on Thursday the title of the Russian Chess Champion after a draw in the Super Final match, held in the East Siberian city of Chita.
Playing the white, Tomashevsky brought his final game of the championship against Pyotr Svidler to a draw, however, the encounter brought him 7.5 points on the aggregate, which was enough to snatch the title of Russia’s best chess player.
Tomashevsky’s closest rival Sergey Karyakin, who finished the championship in the second place, also finished his final game with a draw, which earned him 7 points to earn the title of Russia’s Vice Champion.
