TOKYO, August 7. /TASS/. China has won the right to stage the 2019 Basketball World Cup, president of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Horacio Muratore told reporters on Friday.
The first-time winner beat the Philippines, Germany, Turkey and Qatar, also in competition to host the event.
FIBA changed the method of dating the competition from even years to uneven in 2012. The last event was held in 2014, won by a team from the United States.
The next event will switch from 2018 to 2019, assembling 32 teams instead of 24 in previous years.
