MOSCOW, June 30. /TASS/. The first European Games in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, were organised at the level of the Olympics, Alexander Zhukov, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee, told TASS on Tuesday.
"Competitions were organised at the highlest level compared with the Olympics," said Zhukov, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
He said he was convinced many countries would "want to hold the second European Games in four years."
Team Russia dominated the European Games held from June 12 to 28 with 79 gold, 40 silver and 45 bronze medals. It was followed by Azerbaijan (56 medals) and the United Kingdom (47 medals).
