OSTRAVA /the Czech Republic/, May 2. /TASS/. Russian ice hockey team forward Pavel Datsyuk will stay out of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship due to injured tarsus, the team’s manager general told reporters on Saturday.
"Pavel said he wanted to be with the guys but will be unable to help the team in his condition," Andrei Safonov said. "Pavel said we can always count on him."
The 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is taking place in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava on May 1 through 17.
Russia plays in Group B against the United States, Slovakia, Denmark, Belarus, Slovenia, Norway and Finland.
Russia won its opening game against Norway (6-1) on Friday.
