MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Ice hockey star Pavel Bure, nicknamed "The Russian Rocket" for his speed, has been nominated for head of the International League of Legends to be formed as part of the International Ice Hockey Federation, the press service of the Legends Park sports center said on Friday.
The League of Legends project will be officially unveiled on May 15, 2015 in Prague, the venue of the world hockey championship.
Bure told TASS that the first match of the League of Legends will be held in Moscow.
"I think the tournament will become popular and many countries will want to host it," Bure said.
"We will try to invite prominent hockey players who earlier played for their national teams," he added.
He said that Czech, Finish, Slovak and Swedish hockey players could take part in the tournament.
Bure, 43, played for 12 seaons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He retired in 2003 after suffering a knee injury.
