OTTAWA, January 5. /TASS/. Russia has beaten Sweden in the semi-final of the International Ice Hockey World Junior Championship (for players under 20 years of age) under way in Canada. The game in Toronto ended with a comfortable 4:1 win.
Alexander Sharov scored two goals for Russia on the 32nd and 42nd minutes, and Ziyat Paigin and Maxim Mamin, one each on the 33rd and 53rd. Sweden’s Lucas Wallmark netted one goal on the 52nd.
In the final clash due Monday evening Russia will play with the winner of the Canada-Slovakia encounter.
