MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russian mixed martial arts fighter, world and Europe champion Alexander Emelianenko accused of a sexual assault is waiting for a permission to marry his fiancee at a pre-trial detention centre in Moscow, a spokesman for the local penitentiary service said on Thursday.
"On October 27, he asked the chief of Moscow's Butyrka prison to register his marriage at the pre-trial detention centre," the spokesman said adding that the athlete would also need a permission of investigators to meet with his fiancee and civil registry officers.
The fiancee's name has not been disclosed.
According to investigators, Emelianenko, 33, raped his housekeeper in March and stole her passport. He was detained in May in the southern Russian city of Tambov where he got into a car accident.
In August 2013, another woman accused Emelianenko of rape but later withdrew her accusations.
