NEW YORK, September 07, /ITAR-TASS/. Russians Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova have won the U.S. Open women doubles title beating a Swiss-Italian duet (Martina Hingis and Flavia Penetta) 2-6; 6-3 and 6-2. ;
The U.S. Open prize fund is 38 million U.S. dollars.
Vesnina and Makarova are the 8th and 9th in the WTA doubles rankings. This is their second Grand Slam title. They won the French Open tennis tournament in 2013.
