BERLIN, August 24, 23:50 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian athlete Nadezhda Bazhina has won the second gold in diving in the European Aquatics Championships underway in Berlin.
For Bazhina, this is the fourth gold medal in a European championship. Also, it is the fifth gold taken by the Russian team in the 2014 championships.
Nadezhda, the daughter of the Olympic champion in highboard diving Irina Kalinina, got 322.80 points for a series of five jumps.
“Of course, I made some mistakes at this championship but I wouldn’t say my victory here was just a bonus to me because each of us makes bad shots sometimes,” she said. “I showed everything I could.”
She also won team competitions together with Viktor Minibayev. “We displayed out best jumps and our hopes came true,” Nadezhda said.
“It’s really great to know that the Russian team started these competitions with a gold medal and rounded them up also with gold, too,” she said.
