MOSCOW, August 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan proposed to include four new sports disciplines in the program of the 2021 World Games, namely summer biathlon, 3x3 basketball, mini golf and Kurash wrestling, Rustem Khamitov, the republic’s leader, said on Wednesday.

Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan, is one of the three cities to host the global sports event in 2021. The other two are Peru’s Lima and Birmingham in US Alabama.

The city to host the 2021 World Games will be decided next January in Swiss Lausanne, where the International World Games Association (IWGA) is located. The winner, however, will be announced later in the next year’s spring in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi, which hosted the Winter Olympics this year.

The World Games is an international sports event held once in four years since 1981 and is intended for sports, disciplines or events within a sport, which are not contested at the Olympic Games.

The World Games are governed by the IWGA under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
