SAO PAULO, June 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Another three group matches are expected to take place at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil on Wednesday. Second games in the tournament will be held in Groups A and B. In particular, finalists of the previous World Cup Spain and the Netherlands will challenge their rivals.

Dutch world vice-champions became the main revelation of the first days of the competition crushing 5-1 the best world team representing Spain. After such a bright opener it is just a matter of qualification to go through to 1/8 elimination round, the task may be practically resolved in a match with Australia which will be held at 5 p.m. GMT in the city of Porto Alegre. Players from the ‘green continent’ defeated Chile completely in the debut confirming the status of a group outsider.

The Netherlands can secure a berth in 1/8 finals already on Wednesday evening in case of their win or Spain’s draw or loss in a match with Chile which will begin at 8 p.m. GMT at a legendary Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Chile seemed to cede in all indicators to current world champions, but Vicente del Bosque’s squad looked so hopelessly in the first match that they should not be considered as favorites in an forthcoming match. The second match in the tournament should show what had happened to Spain in Salvador and whether there was a single failure or the team is really in crisis.

According to the World Cup regulations in case of equal points of different teams in one group the main criterion will be the goal difference in all matches, because even a draw actually does not permit Spain to qualify for playoffs, as after the first round they are six goals behind Chile.

Cameroon and Croatia will play at 11 p.m. GMT on Thursday in the Group A second round. This will be the first game of two teams in their history. Both of them lost in openers to Mexico and Brazil, respectively, but if the African team showed almost nothing in attack and a 0-1 score does not reflect advantage of the rival Croatia can blame the fate and the Japanese referee for the failure in the opening match.
