MINSK, May 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian ice hockey team head coach Oleg Znarok has been disqualified for the World Championship’s final over a threatening gesture at a Swedish assistant coach in the semifinals, according to a decision passed by the IIHF Disciplinary Committee on Sunday.

The incident occurred at the end of the semifinal match between Russia and Sweden on Saturday when Znarok went into a heated verbal exchange with Swedish assistant coach Rikard Gronborg, including a cut-throat gesture from the Russian head man.

The incident took place after Sweden’s Mikael Backlund hit Russian forward Sergei Plotnikov. The Swedish player was ejected until the end of the game.

The Russians who won 3:1 in the semifinal against Sweden will face off Finns in the final on Sunday.
