PRAGUE, April 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The Czech Republic will not make bid for holding matches of UEFA European Football Championships in 2020. This has been reported on the official website of the Football association of Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Prague’s administration, which initially planned to make a joint bid with one of Slovakian cities, refused to become the guarantor of the project that included, in particular, the renovation of the stadium. That was cited as the main reason for not making a bid.

“The city hall’s decision is a loss for Prague and the Republic, but especially for Czech football fans,” the football association said in its statement.

UEFA Euro 2020 matches are planned to be held in 13 different countries.
