SOCHI, March 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian national team topped the medal standings at the XI Paralympic Winter Games in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi, as the gold medal won by Russian biathlete Yulia Budaleeva in visually impaired 12.5km race became the 24th one for Russian team at the Games that allowed the team to gain the top place in the medal standings before the end of the Sochi Paralympics.

As of now, Russian athletes have won 62 medals (24 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 17 bronze medals) at the Paralympic Winter Games.

Germany, which is Russia’s closest rival in the medal standings, has won 11 medals (seven gold medals and four silver medals) and even with due account of the sets of medals that will be contested in the last two days of the Sochi Paralympics, Germany cannot catch up with Russia in the medal standings.
