SOCHI, March 09, /ITAR-TASS/. The Paralympic Winter Games in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi will give an impetus to regions to form a barrier-free environment, Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) said with confidence on Saturday.

Russia’s CEC gives close attention to the problem of social adaptation of people with disabilities, member of the CEC working group for co-operation with public organisations of disabled people Sergey Danilenko, who participates in different events at the Paralympics, said. All district polling stations are largely accessible for disabled people, as special coverings and wheelchair ramps are placed there and specially trained personnel is ready to come for help.

“It is very important for us so that no one will feel his suffrage rights encroached upon. Thanks to Paralympic project society is already tackling this problem. And I hope that accessible environment will be created in all cities in Russia in the near future,” Danilenko noted.
