SOCHI, March 08 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia lost 2:3 (1:0, 1:1, 0:1, 0:0, 0:1) to the Republic of Korea in a Group B ice sledge hockey preliminary game at the Sochi Paralympics on Saturday, March 8.
The goals were scored by Vasily Varlakov (15th minute) and Yevgeny Petrov (30th minute) for Russia and by Min-Su Han (30th min) and Byeong-Seok Cho (33rd min) for Korea. The deciding goal was scored by Min-Su Han.
In the second round on March 9 Russia will play against Italy, and Korea against the United States.
In Group A, the Czech Republic lost to Norway 1:2, and Canada trounced Sweden 10:1.
Canada has three points, Norway 2, the Czech Republic 1, and Sweden none.
In Group B, the U.S. beat Italy 5:1, and Russia lost to Korea 2:3.
The U.S. has 3 points, Korea 2, Russia 1, and Italy none.
