MOSCOW, February 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian bobsledders who won Olympic medals at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, were commissioned as military officers during an official ceremony on Friday attended by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Alexander Zubkov, who won gold medals in two-man and four-man bobsleigh competitions, received the rank of Major, his teammate Albert Demchenko, who grabbed two silver medals in Sochi, was promoted to the rank of Captain and Olympic champion in four-man bobsleigh competition Dmitry Trunenkov was ranked as Lieutenant.

Team Russia finished the 2014 Sochi Olympics with the overall result of 33 won medals (13 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals) surpassing its previous Winter Olympics record of 11 gold medals, set at the 1994 Winter Games in Norway’s Lillehammer.
