MOSC OW, February 25, 1:11 /ITAR-TASS/. Tass) - Speaker of the State Duma lower house of Russian parliament Sergei Naryshkin said the Russian team had “the stunning success” in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. He said this after the meeting of the Duma Council on Monday. f“First of all, I wish to congratulate all participants, coaches, specialists and fans on the spectacular victories of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games in Sochi,” the Duma speaker said.
“Hardly many could predict that the victory and success would be so stunning,” he added. “We, apparently, actually all believed in this success, as we believe in the success of our paralympic athletes who will perform in the Paralympic Games in March,” Naryshkin said.
For the first time the Russian national team’s medal haul at the Winter Olympics includes 13 gold, eleven silver and nine bronze medals.
