SOCHI, February 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko said on Sunday that Russia’s good performance at the Olympic Games in Sochi made it possible to speak about good prospects for the next Winter Olympics to be held in Pyongchang, South Korea, in 2018.
“If we manage to maintain the level demonstrated in Sochi and if we raise fresh reserves, then we will have excellent chances to win medals in South Korea, “Mutko said, adding that Russian athletes should improve their skills in curling, half-pipe, slopestyle, and ladies’ ski jumping.
Mutko noted that Russia was the leader in the overall medal standings not only by the number of medals won but also by combination of fourth, fifth and sixth places. According to him, it proves that Russia has excellent sport perspectives considering that the Russian national team is pretty young.
