Biathlon team wins 29th medal for Russia at Olympic Games in Sochi

SOCHI, February 22, (ITAR-TASS) Russian Olympic team has won the 29th medal at the Olympic Games in Sochi, thus repeating a record set by the USSR team in terms of the number of medals at one of the Winter Olympiads.

Russian biathtletes took gold in a 4 x 7.5 kilometers relay race on Saturday - for the first time in human history.

At the moment, the Russian team has eleven gold medals, ten silvers and eight bronzes. This a repeat of the USSR’s record set at the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary where the team also won 29 medals.

The Russian team occupies the first position in an unofficial score count right now.

It has also repeated be test result in terms of eleven gold medals, which Russia gained last time at the Lillehammer Games in 1994.

The second and third positions are occupied by the Norwegians and Canadians.
