SOCHI, February 17. /ITAR-TASS/. The preparation for and holding of the Olympic Games have become a good advertising campaign for the Sochi resort. After the Games, the tourist flow to Sochi may increase by a third, Anatoly Pakhomov, the Sochi mayor, told reporters on Monday.

“Sochi, the only subtropical resort city on Russia’s Black Sea coast, was transformed in just five years to become a symbol of renewal and unique opportunities,” he said. “Krasnaya Polyana has been recognized as the best ski resort in Europe. We are all aware that in the days of the Olympics Sochi is living through its well-deserved days of fame that should be prolonged for many years of popularity of the resort among vacationers from all over the world,” the mayor said.

“Thanks to the Olympics Sochi now has 24,000 new hotel places in addition to the previously existing 26,000, the total number almost doubling,” Pakhomov said.

He said everyone these days, including distinguished guests, expresses amazement at the city’s loveliness and comforts.
