SOCHI, February 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian freestyle skier Maria Komissarova who had been seriously injured during a training session at the Sochi Olympics on Saturday was taken to a specialized clinic in Munich, Germany, to undergo further treatment, the Russian Freestyle Federation said on Sunday.
Komissarova was scheduled to compete in ski cross events on February 21 and 22 but fell during her training on Saturday and was rushed to the Olympic hospital for surgery, whereby doctors confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of fracture and displacement of a thoracic intervertebral disc. The surgery continued for six and a half hours. The doctors repaired the fractured disc and put in a metal implant.
