BRUSSELS, February 14, (ITAR-TASS). Withdrawal of Russian figure skater Yevgeny Plushenko from the men’s competition at the Sochi Olympic Games has raised the chances for Jorik Hendrickx of Belgium for a successful in the individual tournament, Belgian newspaper Le Derniere Heure said.
Plushenko’s decision to withdraw from the competition became synonymous with Hendrickx’s qualification for the free skate Friday, the report said.
The Russian star figure skater had to withdraw from the tournament because of an acute spinal ache.
