SOCHI, February 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu won first place in men’s short program at the Sochi Olympics. Hanyu has set a new world record, gaining 101.45 points.

The previous world record was also set by Yuzuru Hanyu (99.84).

Canadian Patrick Chan ranked second with 97.52 points and Spain’s Javier Fernandez is third (86.98).

Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko has pulled out from the tournament due to a trauma.

Men’s free skating program is scheduled for February 14, 15:00 GMT.
