SOCHI, February 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Participation of Russian freestyler Pavel Korpachev in a ski slopestyle qualification round at the Sochi Olympics was in question just a couple of hours before the start, the athlete told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Korpachev has taken 28th place in the qualification round with his best result of 46.40 points and failed to advance in the final. “I even could not lift my hand on Thursday morning over a shoulder injury that I had got at the yesterday’s training. My participation in the Olympic competition was in question. But an hour before the competition I and coaching staff decided that I will go out for the start. We have been preparing for the Olympics for several years and it would have been a crime to refuse from competing in it,” the athlete said. “However, I had to make my performance easier due to the injury, actually leaving one trick, in which the hand was not engaged. But I did not perform clearly even an easy programme. I skied at some 30 percent of my capabilities due to the injury,” he added.
