17:14Russian male curling team has clinched first victory at the Winter Olympics in the southern Russian city of Sochi, beating 7-6 Switzerland’s curling squad.

16:27. Li Jianrou of China wins women's 500 meter short track gold medal. Arianna Fontana of Italy got the silver and Park Seung-hi of South Korea won the bronze.

15:28. South Korea, Italy, Great Britain and China to compete in women's 500 meter short track semi-finals.

15:05. Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland wins gold in women's classical-style cross-country race. Sweden's Charlotte Kalla is second and Therese Johaug of Norway wins the bronze. The best of Russians was Natalya Zhukova, she finished seventh.

14:42. Germany's women's hockey squad won over Japan with a score of 4:0.

14:41. US athletes won all three medals in ski slopestyle competition. Joss Christensen got the gold, Gus Kenworthy won the silver and Nicholas Goepper snatched the bronze.

14:38. The only Kyrgyz athlete who gained the right to compete in Alpine skiing at the Winter Olympics in Sochi will not perform over an injury he had got at a training session.

14:19. Finland wins 8:4 in the very first men's ice hockey match against Austria.

14:09. Finland is ahead 7:4 in men's ice hockey battle with Austria minutes before the end of the game.

14:08. Russia's speed skater Sofya Prosvirnova doesn't make it to the finals in women's 500 meter short track.

14:05. Russia's women hockey squad is capable of beating swedes and taking the first place in the group, says head coach of a Russian hockey club. The game is to take place later today.

13:59. In men's ski slopestyle final the current leader is Joss Christensen of the United States. He was first after the qualification, followed by Andreas Haatveit of Norway and Britain's James Woods.

13:56. Austria scores in the third period of the ice hockey match against Finland. It makes the current score 6:3 in favour of Finland.

13:46. Canadian ice hockey players Matthew Duchene and Pernell Karl Subban are not to play in Canada's first Olympic match against Norway.

13:43. Russian freestyler Pavel Korpachev performed in a ski slopestyle qualification round at the Sochi Olympics with a serious injury.

13:35. After the second run in women's skeleton Elizabeth Yarnold of Great Britain is first, Noelle Pikus-Pace of the United States second and  Elena Nikitina of Russia is is third.

13:33. Petri Kontiola scores and Finland is leading 6:2 in men's first ice hockey match against Austria.


13:11. Finland is ahead by 3 already (5:2) in men's first ice hockey match against  Austria.

13:02. And skier Roberto Carcelen from Peru is going to take part in a ski race with a fractured rib. Moreover, he's the first Peruvian to take part in Winter Olympics.

12:50. Finland is leading 4:2 after first period in the match with Austria.

12:49. Russian ski jumper Mikhail Maksimochkin after a serious fall during training on the K-125 take-off ramp yesterday has a fracture of the eighth rib, and is unlikely to continue participation in the Games.

12:28. Meanwhile, Russian ski coach said biathlete Olga Podchufarova is going to live separately from the rest of the team to avoid acclimatation.
