MOSCOW, February 08. /ITAR-TASS/. On the opening day of the Winter Olympic Games — on February 7 — Sochi’s international airport served over 8,700 arriving passengers, Basel Aero /airport’s operator/ reports.
“This is a new record for the airport. The earlier one was fixed a day earlier on February 6, as over 8,500 passengers arrived,” the company’s press service said.
On Friday, the airport served 11,360 passengers, where 8,736 were guests and participants in the Olympic Games from different countries. The number of served departing passengers was 2,624.
Over the past day, the airport received 140 planes. The airport served 131 departing flights, where 40 left for foreign destinations. The statistics includes chartered flights — 18 arriving and 14 departing ones.
