SOCHI, February 8. /ITAR-TASS/. US women’s hockey squad beat Finnish team in the first match of group A at the Olympic Games in Sochi. The play-off finished with 3:1 score (1:0, 2:0, 0:1).

Pucks were delivered by Americans Hillary Knight (1st minute), Kelli Stack (28th) and Alex Carpenter (36th). Finland scored only one puck (Susanna Tapani, 56th minute).

In the next tour, US squad will meet with Swiss hockey players, and Finland will play against Canada. Both matches are scheduled for February 10.

Russia’s women’s squad will start performing in a match against Germany February 9 (17:00 Moscow time, 13:00 GMT).
