VLADIVOSTOK, February 08. /ITAR-TASS/. The Olympic Games will add to the international popularity of the city of Sochi, which will become a year-round resort after the competitions, China’s leader Xi Jinping said in an interview with Vesti television show on Saturday.

“Sochi is a cultural capital with traditions and history of many centuries. The city’s unique geography is amazing: it is the world’s most northern subtropical area. Though it is winter now, the city is covered with subtropical plants. It is a very beautiful, dynamic and simply charming city,” Xi Jinping said. “I believe after the Winter Games the resort will become more popular. Especially since it will be a round-year tourist centre. Very many people from all over the world are coming here, including those from my country.”

The Chinese leader stressed Beijing would like to study Russia’s experience in staging Winter Olympic Games.

“As you know, in 2022, Beijing jointly with Zhangjiakou will host the Winter Games. Thus, we would like to use Russia’s experience in preparations and organization of the Winter Games. I am well aware that President Vladimir Putin has been personally involved in preparations for the Games in Sochi, and the entire Russian nation applied effort.”

While speaking about the bilateral relations, he said Russia and China had achieved high level of political trust and had been transforming it into results.

“I appreciate greatly the progress in our relations. I believe China and Russia make a pair of strategic partners, who share a firm base of mutual trust, vast agenda and very big influence in the international and regional political arenas. Together with my counterpart and very good friend Vladimir Putin, we care a lot for the Chinese-Russian relations and will continue to do everything to improve and develop them further on.”
