SOCHI, February 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin talked to guests after an opening ceremony of the XXII Winter Olympic Games at Fisht Stadium in the southern Russian city of Sochi on Friday.
The president asked Russian bobsledder Irina Skvortsova whether she liked the show. She admitted that she liked it very much. “In fact, it was like in a fairytale. And even better!” the young athlete said.
Four-time world champion in ice dance Natalia Bestemianova admitted that the opening ceremony turned out to be magnificent. “There are many authors of this,” Putin noted in reply.
Meanwhile, the president noted that “athletes are mostly important.” “We are doing all for them,” he said.
For his part, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach also congratulated Putin on how the opening ceremony of the Games was held.
