SOCHI, February 07. /ITAR-TASS/. A parade of nations has begun at the opening ceremony of the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi. For the first time in Olympic history, athletes are getting on to the stadium by a special high-tech ramp located in the center of the facility.
The spectators see a projection of the globe on the field. It symbolizes a conventional geographic shape of each participating country.
As soon as the announcers name a country, the nighttime planet starts moving and the conventional contours light up its surface. Like space travelers, the guests are watching the action as if they were looking at it from outer space.
Taking part in the parade of nations are 3,500 athletes representing 88 nations. The soundtrack consists of the popular Russian melodies composed over the past twenty years and rearranged for the ceremony by DJ Leonid Rudenko.
