SOCHI, February 06, 23:26 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia would be able to organize the 2018 World Football Cup, the Ice-Hockey World Championship and the Winter University Games at a very high level and with traditional Russian hospitality.
In his speech at a reception given on behalf of the International Olympic Committee president in Sochi, Putin noted that Russia had accumulated rich experience in holding major sport events.
“I am sure that the participants and guests of the University Games in Kazan, figure-skating and athletics championships and other large-scale sport events which this country has hosted in recent years have had a chance to assess in full measure our abilities as organizers and the traditional Russian hospitality,” Putin said.
“Russia is going to host world tournaments in ice-hockey, bobsleigh and skeleton as well as the World Football Cup and Winter University Games in the near future. I have no doubt that they will be highly emotional and will pass in strict compliance with all the regulations and requirements,” the Russian president emphasized.
