SOCHI, February 06. /ITAR-TASS/. With only one day left before the official opening of the 2014 Winter Games in Russia’s Sochi, women freestyle skiers took part on Thursday in the first out of two qualifying sessions in moguls.
A total of 30 skiers lined up for the qualifiers and the top ten scorers went straight to the finals round, while the rest will take part in the second qualifying eliminator scheduled for February 8.
The top ten included Russia’s Regina Rakhimova, who squeezed in the finals round by showing the tenth result of 20.48 points.
The highest score of 23.05 was awarded by judges to Hannah Kearney of the United States.
Rakhimova’s teammates Elena Muratova, Marika Pertakhiya and Ekaterina Stolyarova finished the first round of the qualifiers in the 18th, 19th and 25th places respectively.
