SOCHI, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Head coach of the Russian Olympic women's ice hockey team said it would be interesting and useful for his players to mingle with the men’s hockey team at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
“The girls definitely know the players from the men’s team, but they did not talk personally,” Mikhail Chekanov said.
“I believe it will be interesting and useful for them to share the company of high-class players,” Chekanov said. “Perhaps someone will fall in love.”
Chekanov said he would speak with the head coach of the men’s ice hockey team, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, and try to talk him into arranging a stroll for the players of both teams sometime during the Games.
The women’s ice hockey national team arrived in Sochi last Friday and will play their first game on February 9 against Germany. The men’s team is currently practicing in Russia’s Kazan and is scheduled to arrive to the Olympics city on February 8. They will play their Olympic opener in Sochi against Slovenia on February 13.
The Sochi Olympics will open on February 7 and will run until February 23, to be followed by the Paralympic Games, due from March 7 to March 16.
