MOSCOW, January 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Paralympic team training headquarters and Russian Paralympic Committee led by Vladimir Lukin have adopted the make-up of a Russian national team.
“We have all reasons to hope our team will perform successfully, Russia has made a great deal of related work,” said Russia's Minister of Sports, head of the headquarters, Vitaly Mutko.
In the XI Paralympic Games Russia will be represented by 78 athletes from 17 Russian regions. The delegation comprising 195 people will be the largest Russian Paralympic delegation in the whole history of the country’s participation in Winter Games.
It will be the first time that Russian parathletes will compete in all disciplines: cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing for athletes with spinal cord injury and vision disabilities, wheelchair curling, and sledge hockey. Para-snowboarding for athletes with spinal cord injury is part of the Paralympic program from this year on.
