TOKYO, January 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Japanese delegation to the 2014 Sochi Olympics would comprise 248 members, including 113 athletes, the Japanese national committee officially announced on Monday.
This means this year’s Japanese delegation to Sochi will become the largest in the country’s history of participation in winter Olympics since 1928, breaking its previous record of 238 representatives in the 2006 Turin Olympics.
Another peculiarity of this year’s Olympic team is women are in the majority — 65 against 48 men. The largest number of athletes, 39, will claim titles in skiing events.
