YEKATERINBURG, April 30. /TASS/. Alexander Golovin and Fedor Smolov are that type of players who can make the difference for team Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, France’s world football champion Marcel Desailly told TASS.

"I've seen recent friendly between Russia and France. Russians have a team spirit. Also it would be wrong to say that Russia doesn't have good players. If Smolov and Golovin are confident in themselves, they will reach their goals. They are that type of players who have their own style and can make the difference. The team must have players who can show an individual performance," Desailly said.

Team Russia will play against Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay at the group stage.

"You've got a really strong group. The whole team should work to stop Mohammed Salah when team Russia will play against Egypt. But in national team he usually is not as effective as when he plays for Liverpool. Don't forget that Uruguay has Luis Suarez. The first game on the tournament against Saudi Arabia will be very important for Russians," Desailly said.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup’s Football Park opened in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg on Sunday. Desailly was among honorary guests who attended the event.

Russia selected 11 host cities to be the venues for the matches of the 2018 World Cup and they are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara.

The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums located in the 11 mentioned above cities across Russia. Two of the stadiums are located in the Russian capital.

Yekaterinburg will host four group stage matches: Egypt - Uruguay (June 15), France - Peru (June 21), Japan - Senegal (June 24) and Mexico - Sweden (June 27).
