Spielberg’s new movie becomes smash hit in Russia

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. American sci-fi thriller Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg has topped the list of the highest grossing movies in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from March 29 to April 1. The film has collected 326.5 mln rubles ($5.7 mln), according to preliminary data provided by the kinobusiness.com website.

The film, which tells about the danger of full immersion into virtual reality, was released in Russia on March 29.

The second place was taken by the Peter Rabbit animated children’s television series, which collected 118.7 mln rubles ($2.07) followed by the Pacific Rim: Uprising American science fiction film directed by Steven DeKnight, which collected 99.2 mln rubles ($1.7) during four days.
