The militants were involved in crimes of a terrorist nature

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Two militants have been killed during the counter-terrorist operation in the republic of Dagestan, Russia’s Northern Caucasus, the information center of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported.

"The militants that were neutralized in Dagestan were involved in crimes of a terrorist nature," the NAC said, without giving any details.

Law enforcement officers continue a special operation in the vicinity of the village of Chirkata, Gumbertovsky district of Dagestan, where two militants were killed in the course of the counter-terrorist operation, a source with the regional security agencies told TASS on Tuesday.

"Two militants were killed in the vicinity of the village of Chirkata at 00:20 (Moscow time). The criminals made resistance and were killed from the ambush. ·· Evacuation of the population was not required. There are no casualties among civilians. At present the area near Chirkata has been cordoned off. The counterterrorism operation continues, " the source said.

Law enforcement officers have identified the militants who were killed during the counter-terrorist operation near the village of Chirkata, Gumbetovsky district of Dagestan, a source with the security units of the region told TASSS on Tuesday.

"Both of them have been identified, they were involved in crimes of a terrorist nature," the source said without giving the militants’ names.

On December 17, law enforcers killed two militants and their commander in Dagestan. According to NAC, the identity of one of the militants has been preliminarily established. This is one of the commanders of the militant group Aligadzhi Khamutayev. He is charged with murders of eight people and attacking a road-train of one of the units of Russia’s Interior Ministry.
