Putin to meet with football legends, director Oliver Stone

Putin will also chair a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council on December 1

MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with world football legends ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup draw.

"Before taking part in the draw ceremony, Putin will meet with world football stars, veterans, the world football legends who came to the ceremony and talk with them," Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

According to Peskov, the head of state can have a brief meeting with director Oliver Stone who recently made a documentary about Putin on the basis of numerous interviews with the Russian leader. "Stone is here in Moscow. It’s a private visit, he took part in some conferences," the Kremlin spokesman noted. "Considering how many hours they [Putin and Stone] spent together while working on a well-known film, the president decided to take advantage of his [Stone’s] visit just to shake hands and ask each other how they are doing."

The Kremlin spokesman added that Putin will also chair a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council. He recalled that the president’s Friday’s schedule also includes attending the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and the 2018 FIFA World Cup draw ceremony. He is expected to address the participants in these events.
