MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. ‘The Legend of Kolovrat’, a new Russian epic blockbuster also known as ‘Furious’, was released on Thursday.
The film is set in the 13th century when Russia was under control of the Golden horde and is based on the ancient Tale of the Destruction of Ryazan, a city some 150 kilometers to the southeast of Moscow, by Mongol ruler Khan Batu.

‘The Legend of Kolovrat’ is the first Russian film made using the chroma keying technique (the compositing of two images or video streams together based on color hues).
Some 300 costumes were made for the project. Furs, leather and cloths were purchased in India, Turkey, China, Russia and Mongolia.
