ARKHANGELSK, March 30. /TASS/. World-acclaimed Russian viola maestro Yuri Bashmet and his Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra will give a concert on Thursday within the framework of the International Arctic Forum The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue.
"I think it its incredibly right that the Russian North is hosting a big international Arctic forum. And I am very pleased to perform within its framework with my chamber orchestra Moscow Soloists, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, and with two young soloists from the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia," he told TASS.
Formed by Yuri Bashmet from among graduates of the Moscow Conservatoire, the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra made its debut in 1992. The orchestra has performed both in Russia and at many prestigious music venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Barbican Hall in London, the Tivoli in Copenhagen, the Berliner Philharmoniker and in Wellington, New Zealand. In 2008, the orchestra won a Best Small Ensemble Performance Grammy for its recording of music by Stravinsky and Prokofiev.
The Arctic - Territory of Dialogue Fourth International Forum is held in Arkhangelsk on March 29-30. The TASS news agency is the forum’s general media partner.
