CHISINAU, March 11. /TASS/. Moldova’s President Igor Dodon received TASS Director General Sergei Mikhailov on Saturday.
During the meeting, Mikhailov told the Moldovan president that the Russian news agency was stepping up active cooperation with the Moldpres news agency and other Moldovan media outlets on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the Council of Heads of CIS State News Agencies (Commonwealth of Independent States, assembly of former Soviet republics), and World Congress of Russian Press, which unites more than 3,000 printed and online publications published in the Russian language in 80 countries.
The two men focused on significance of work with Russian and Moldovan young people in the run-up to the World Festival of Youth and Students due to be held in Sochi this October.
"After the collapse of the Soviet Union, ties across the CIS space have been loosened," Mikhailov said. "Now we can see a demand for contacts of the media to sustain since it is crucial to realize what is going on in neighbors’ lives. Now we need to cooperate on many issues."
The TASS director general is convinced that it is relevant to impartial coverage of news in the media, their existence in the Internet era and protection of journalists.
