NOVO-OGARYOVO, February 17. /TASS/. The Bolshoi Theatre will put on a gala concert during 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, its director Vladimir Urin said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
According to him, if everything goes as planned, on July 14, 2018, before the beginning of the final match, "The Bolshoi Theatre will present a gala concert, dedicated to this remarkable event." Leading soloists, both world-renowned Russian musicians and our foreign colleagues, have given consent to take part in the show", Urin said, stressing that many of them had already agreed to take part in the concert.
When speaking of international cooperation, Urin pointed to the Bolshoi Theater’s major projects with foreign partners.
"We are holding serious talks with The Paris Opera on two eminent performances, we have almost agreed on one of them, that will be "War and Peace" by Prokofiev, in other words we will put on the performance together," Urin stated. He explained that the Paris Opera will come to Russia on tour, while the Bolshoi Theatre will be touring France in 2018. In addition, according to the director, the Metropolitan Opera agreed to take part in three performances. The parties are planning to sign a respective letter of intent in March.
The theater’s executive director also announced some interesting projects with La Scala and the Bolshoi Theater tours to Japan and Finland. He ended by saying, "we will close the season in New York."
