Prolific Russian beadwork artist creates rose handiwork for Melania Trump

The artist said she was inspired by the First Lady

YEKATERINBURG, February 13. /TASS/. Svetlana Sapegina, a beadwork artist from the Urals town of Verkhnaya Pyshma has crafted a rose in the colors of the American flag and is planning to hand over her gift to US first lady Melania Trump, she told TASS on Monday.

The artist said she was inspired by Mrs. Trump and the recent US elections.

"It took me 150 hours to make the rose. I had been working throughout all of December," Sapegina said, adding that she had to use white beads instead of the traditional stars on the American flag.

"In January, I contacted the US consulate general (in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg) with a request to pass the rose beadwork on to Melania Trump. I am awaiting their decision," she added.

That being said, the consulate general told TASS that the rose will be handed over to the first lady.

Sapegina said she had made her first beadwork rose in the colors of the Russian flag in 2015. In 2012, she traveled to the United Kingdom to present the royal family with a beadwork replica of the wedding bouquet of the Duchess of Cambridge.
