Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 in Malaga.

Picasso, one of the founders of cubism, also enjoyed working as a graphic artist, a ceramist and a sculptor. Throughout his long career, Picasso created more than 20,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures and other items - even costumes and theater sets.

Cubism opened up almost infinite new possibilities for the treatment of visual reality in art and was the starting point for many later abstract styles including constructivism.

Pablo Picasso is universally renowned as one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the twentieth century.

TASS has brought some of the artist's most vibrant masterpieces to life.
