MAKHACHKALA, September 4. /TASS/. Two militants have been killed in the zone of counter-terrorism operation declared in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a local law enforcement source told TASS on Sunday.
The gunmen were killed in a forest in south Dagestan’s Magaramkentsky district near the Samur village during the clash. "One of the injured security officers died," the source said, adding that the operation has been suspended until early Monday.
The counter-terrorism operation was declared in the district at 5.00 a.m. on Sunday (0200GMT). The security officers were conducting a search effort in the forest and located unknown men who opened fire and attempted to flee the scene.
