ST. PETERSBURG, August 18. /TASS/. Customs officers made a big cocaine bust, seizing 21 kilograms of the illegal white substance which had arrived at St. Petersburg’s port from Ecuador on board a ship carrying containers of frozen fish, the customs' press service told Tass on Thursday.
According to the report, among the containers, several raised suspicion and were singled out for further inspection. Subsequently, 21 bricks containing white powder were discovered in the refrigerating unit.
On-site forensic tests by customs experts determined that the substance was cocaine. The drugs were sent to a laboratory for further examinations. Law enforcement officers are currently conducting further investigations to ascertain who was running this drug trafficking route.
