Men attacking traffic police station outside Moscow identified — investigation

Two rucksacks with documents along with other belongings of the attackers were found in the woodland nearby

MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Investigators have identified two men who earlier on Wednesday attacked a traffic police station in the township of Balashikha 20 kilometers to the east of Moscow, sources from the Russian Investigation Committee’s Moscow region department told Tass.

"The two attackers have been identified, but they cannot be named for legal reasons," they said.

Two rucksacks with documents along with other belongings of the attackers were found in the woodland nearby. Investigators look into the motives as well as the itinerary of the attackers.

A traffic police station on the Shchelkovskoye Highway in Balashikha was attacked in the afternoon. According to early reports, the two armed men were natives of Central Asian republics. Two policemen were wounded in the attack. The attackers were neutralized.

Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said no civilians had been injured due to professional action by police officers.
