BAKU, July 26. /TASS/. Two persons died in an explosion at a munitions plant in Azerbaijan’s city of Shirvan, the Azerbaijani ministry of the defense industry said on its website on Tuesday.

"As a result of an explosion at the Araz plant, two workers died," the ministry said.

Earlier, Azerbaijan’s interior and emergencies ministries and the prosecutor general’s office said a total of 24 people were hurt in the blast. Fourteen received out-patient treatment. Ten people were taken to hospital.

The explosion at the Araz munitions plant of the Azerbaijani ministry of the defense industry occurred in the afternoon on Tuesday. "According to preliminary probe results, the blast occurred at the plant’s disposal shop when expired munitions were being prepared for disposal," the interior and emergencies ministries said in a press statement.
